Jeff Covington's lawyer demands probable cause hearing
NEW HAVEN >> The defense attorney for Jeffrey Covington, accused of murder in the shooting death of Taijhon Washington, on Tuesday requested a probable cause hearing because the police version of the case allegedly has “problems” with identification of the shooter.
Lawyers and their defendants facing such charges almost always waive their right to probable cause hearings, in which the prosecution must show through witness testimony there are sufficient grounds for the allegations.
