Arrest warrant obtained for Ryan Barnaby murder

NEW HAVEN - Police have obtained an arrest warrant charging a city man, 21, in the 2011 shooting death of Ryan Barnaby, 35, of Waterbury.

Zackery Cody Franklin, who is currently incarcerated at Whalley Avenue Correctional Facility in connection with two other homicides, will be charged with felony murder, murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny, police said in a statement.

Franklin already is being held on a charge of murder for the death of John Claude-James on July 9, 2011 in New Haven, and a murder committed in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 8, 2011, police said.

Barnaby died from a single fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was found in Edgewood Park. The death was ruled a homicide.

Barnaby lived in Waterbury with his wife and four children. He had family on Edgewood Avenue in New Haven as well. He had left there to return home, they said, but never made it.

His body was discovered after an extensive search of the 120-acre park, just two blocks from his relatives’ home. He had worked at Southern Connecticut State University for the last 17 years in the dietary department.

Arrest made in Eddie Jackson homicide case

A man already incarcerated for a separate shooting incident will be charged with murder by New Haven police for his alleged involvement in the May 2010 shooting that killed Edmund Jackson near Humphrey’s East bar and restaurant.

Jermaine Harris, 24, will be charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol and carrying a pistol without a permit. His bail will be set at $1 million, according to a release by police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Arrest made in shooting death of Dallas Boomer

Police have arrested Kenneth McCoy, 29, of West Haven, in connection with the November shooting death of Dallas Boomer, 31, of Hamden on Willis Street in New Haven.

McCoy is charged with murder, criminal possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge, police said.

Boomer was killed killed in a barrage of gunfire after visiting his aunt’s house in New Haven.
