Dallas Boomer: New Haven's 32nd homicide

Evidence was scattered over for several blocks in Newhallville. Dallas Boomer's 2011 Chevy was found crashed into a stop sign and riddled with bullet holes. He was shot in the back and became New Haven's 32nd homicide victim.

A block further east on Willis Street, police processed a second, related crime scene. Evidence markers littered the intersection of Sherman Parkway and Willis Street. A man and woman smoking cigarettes on the porch of a house at the corner declined comment.

"We don't want to talk about it."

This is the police account:


"This morning, at approximately 1:19 a.m., the Shotspotter system reported gunshots in the area of 54 Willis Street. Several additional calls to 911 from community members were received reporting gunshots in this area. New Haven police officers responded and found a vehicle crashed into a stop sign on Willis Street near Fournier Street. A gunshot victim was located inside the vehicle. The victim was taken to an area hospital and a short time later was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Dallas Boomer, date of birth 2/20/1980, of Hamden, Connecticut.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded and began an investigation. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and further information is not available at this time.
