Case against suspect in Mitchell Dubey killing continued

NEW HAVEN — Tashaun Fair, accused of murder in the shooting death of Mitchell Dubey, had his case continued to another date Wednesday in Superior Court so his attorney can review police reports on the case.
New Haven Chief Public Defender Thomas Ullmann told Judge Patrick Clifford he has not decided whether to request a probable cause hearing, in which prosecutors present evidence in an effort to support the charges.
Fair, 19, of 250 Newhall St., is accused of entering a nearby house on Bassett Street March 24, 2011 and shooting Dubey, 23, in the chest during a botched robbery. He is being held in lieu of $3 million bail.
Fair, dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit, smiled at a half-dozen supporters as he entered the courtroom. When Clifford asked him if he had any questions about his case, Fair said he did not.
The next pretrial session was scheduled for Nov. 1.
