Zackery Cody Franklin, who is currently incarcerated at Whalley Avenue Correctional Facility in connection with two other homicides, will be charged with felony murder, murder, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny, police said in a statement.
Franklin already is being held on a charge of murder for the death of John Claude-James on July 9, 2011 in New Haven, and a murder committed in Waterbury, Connecticut on July 8, 2011, police said.
Barnaby died from a single fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was found in Edgewood Park. The death was ruled a homicide.
Barnaby lived in Waterbury with his wife and four children. He had family on Edgewood Avenue in New Haven as well. He had left there to return home, they said, but never made it.
His body was discovered after an extensive search of the 120-acre park, just two blocks from his relatives’ home. He had worked at Southern Connecticut State University for the last 17 years in the dietary department.
